The NHK historical drama “Tempest(テンペスト)” is going to get a 3-D movie in theaters next year. Nakama Yukie(仲間由紀恵) (31) will remain in the starring role, along with fellow cast members such as Tanihara Shosuke(谷原章介), Tsukamoto Takashi(塚本高史), Takaoka Saki(高岡早紀), GACKT, and Okuda Eiji(奥田瑛二).
Based on Ikegami Eiichi(池上永一)’s novel of the same name, “Tempest(テンペスト)” is set in the Ryukyu Kingdom during the 19th century. Nakama plays a woman who hides her gender as she attempts to gain influence as a government official for the sake of protecting her country. The drama series currently airs on NHK BS-Premium and will end on September 18.
The movie is reported to be a two-and-a-half-hour edit of the drama series, with no plans for new footage to be shot.
Amuro Namie(安室奈美恵)’s song “Tempest” will still be the theme song.
“Gekijoban Tempest 3D(劇場版テンペスト3D)” is scheduled to open in theaters on January 28, 2012.
