AKB48 member Sashihara Rino(指原莉乃) to debut as solo artist in March 2012

AKB48 member Sashihara Rino(指原莉乃) (19) will debut as a solo artist this March. The news was announced on Sunday during AKB48′s handshake event as a surprise to everyone, including Sashihara herself.

Sashihara’s debut single, which is currently untitled, will be the theme song for her upcoming drama series “Muse no Kagami(ミューズの鏡),” which begins on January 14. The single will be released under avex trax in March.

Sashihara, who belongs to Team A, is currently one of AKB48′s more popular members. She is also part of the sub-unit Not yet, along with Oshima Yuko(大島優子), Kitahara Rie(北原里英), and Yokoyama Yui(横山由依).

She will be the fifth active AKB48 member to debut as a soloist, after Maeda Atsuko(前田敦子), Itano Tomomi(板野友美), Iwasa Misaki(岩佐美咲), and Watanabe Mayu(渡辺麻友).
