Keizo Kanie(蟹江敬三), Who Played The Role of Chube Amano(天野忠兵衛) In Amachan(あまちゃん) Died From Gastric Cancer

Actor Keizo Kanie(蟹江敬三), who played the grandfather role of the heroine in the NHK Asadora "Amachan(あまちゃん)" passed away on March 30th, 2014 at a hospital in Tokyo.


Kanie died at the age of 69 after he lost his battle with gastric cancer. He was diagnosed with gastric cancer in 2013 and he had been repeatedly hospitalized since January of 2014 due to physical condition deteriorating. He passed away under his wife Ayako(綾子)'s watch on March 30th, 2013. Wife will served as chief mourner and the funeral will be held on April 2nd, 2014.


The Tokyo native made his acting debut in 1965 and had appeared in numerous movies and television shows. He won the award for best supporting actor at the 1st Yokohama Film Festival for Angel Guts: Red Classroom(天使のはらわた 赤い教室) and Juukyuusai no Chizu(十九歳の地図) and at the 12th Yokohama Film Festival for Ware ni utsu yoi ari(われに撃つ用意あり) and Boku to, bokura no natsu(ぼくと、ぼくらの).

His last work was "Kitami Shiho 18(北見志穂18)" which will begin its broadcast on April 5th, 2014.
