Japan Lifts Partial Ban on Packages Shipped to U.S.

Japan Post, the main postal service in Japan, announced on Monday that it is lifting the partial ban on shipments heavier than one pound (453 grams) that are sent to the United States. However, packages may be delayed due to increased security. The ban started on November 17, and applied to all shipping methods except for sea mail. However, businesses that already had existing contracts with Japan Post were not affected.

Only packages going to the United States were affected. Japan Post initiated the ban after the United States strengthened air cargo security to counter recent terrorist threats.
