hitomi leaving Avex to indie label

Singer hitomi announced today on her official website that she is leaving Avex and signing with an independent label. In addition, she revealed that her first release with her new label is an album titled “SPIRIT,” to be released on April 27.

hitomi started her career as a model, but she made her singing debut in 1994 with the Komuro Tetsuya(小室哲哉)-produced “Let's Play Winter.” Starting with that song, she has always been under Avex until now.

Beyond the announcement, neither hitomi nor Avex has released a statement regarding her change in labels. However, someone familiar with the situation has reportedly said that hitomi will properly explain to her fans in the near future, most likely before the release of “SPIRIT.”
