AKB48 To Hold Their 6th General Election, Ballot Counting Event To Be Held On June 7th, 2014

It was announced on March 22nd, 2014 from the the selected election committee that AKB48 will be holding their 6th annual general selection.

The ranking of members has been expanded to 80 people from 64 people from last year. Candidacy will be accepted from March 31st to April 6th. The voting period will be from May 20th to June 6th. Then the ballot counting event will be on June 7th at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo.

The candidacy qualification has been established after the team reshuffle on February 24th, 2014. In addition to the enrolled members of AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, Haruka Nakagawa(仲川遥香)(22) and Rina Chikano(近野莉菜)(20) who transferred to overseas will also be eligible. In addition, graduates of former members have been removed.

For the right to vote, fans will need to purchase the AKB48's 36th single currently untitled which will be released May 21st, 2014
